Laboratories have used quality control (QC) concepts and theories based on the same statistical calculations and assumptions for decades. Risk management, as stated in Clinical & Laboratory Standards Institute\u2019s (CLSI) EP23A Guideline, adds an ‘acceptable risk criteria.’<\/p>\n

Zoe C. Brooks, ART, is a consultant, lecturer, and author with a longstanding focus on laboratory quality and risk management. She is Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at ElevateQC, where she contributes to the development of software tools designed to support error reduction and increased efficiency in clinical laboratories. Zoe taught clinical laboratory data analysis for over a decade at Rutgers University and currently leads the team here at M.O.R.E. Quality, an educational initiative aimed at strengthening risk management practices in the lab.<\/p>\n

She authored Performance-Driven Quality Control (AACC Press, 2001) and has published over 30 works on quality control, risk management and predictive values of Covid-19 results risk.
